Modere’s last Regional event in Atlanta wasn’t just about hearing the scoop on new products or reconnecting with Social Marketers–it was also about giving back to the local community.
Modere staff and Social Marketers took part in a very special event where they filled Ziploc bags with everyday essentials like shampoo, body wash, toothpaste, and mouth rinse. Modere then donated them to Vets Connect, a program of the United Way of Greater Atlanta.
“We know success doesn’t mean much if you aren’t striving to serve and give back to others,” said Justin Serra, Modere General Manager. “Many of the items we use on a daily basis, those basic amenities, are considered luxuries to many others, and they deserve to have them.”
Vets Connect provides support and services to hundreds of homeless veterans in the area. The program, in collaboration with partner agencies, helps eligible veterans with housing vouchers, provides transitional house, helps veterans connect with the VA, and locates employment opportunities.
Robert Conlee, CEO of Modere expressed his support of the program.
“It was truly amazing, seeing industry leaders come forward to help those who have served our country. We can only imagine how hard they’ve worked and know this is just a drop in the bucket. But we hope it can be the start to something bigger and better for them.”
Modere Gives Back was led by a challenge to Social Marketers to live a healthier lifestyle. This M3 Body Transformation Challenge promised that for every pound lost, a pound of product would be donated to Vets Connect. In the end, a total of (the total) packaged and donated at the Regional Event in Atlanta.

About Vets Connect
With your help, we can provide the supports and services that homeless veterans need to get off the streets, into permanent housing, and on a path to the American dream — the pursuit of happiness – ideals they serve to protect. In Atlanta, veterans account for 21 percent of the homeless population, compared to 11 percent nationally. A local survey found the majority of homeless veterans are eligible for services through the Veterans Administration (VA), but only 32 percent are using those services.
In collaboration with partner agencies and the VA, we have created the following programs to fill in the gaps in providing housing and other services to homeless vets:
- Move in program for eligible veterans with housing vouchers (VASH)
- Transitional housing for those not yet working with the VA
- Peers assist with engaging vets and connecting them with the VA
- Through our Advisory Board, we make connections to employment
- Move in kits collected from community donations
